Searching For A Job? – 8 Reasons To Use Google+

Using social media is a must for your job search  It allows you to expand the number of people you know, learn new information about people/companies and show off your skills.  Most people use FacebookLinkedIn and Twitter.  Google+ provides another avenue for job seekers to establish their credibility, update their information and will help with your individual SEO, a key factor in being ‘found.’  Here are some hints for building your Google+ profile:
1.  Use the same photo as in your other social media profiles.  You want to make it clear to employers that all the profiles belong to the same person.
2.  Spend time writing a good description for your “occupation” as Google uses it under your name as a headline.
3.  Information from your Google+ profile will feed Google with keywords about you to anyone doing a search.
4.  Similar to summary sections,  the STORY section provides more space and options than other sites.
5.  The WORK section will allow you to enter your jobs and accomplishments.
6.  The EDUCATION section is similar to other sites.
7.  The LINKS section is where you can list your other profiles, blogs, websites and portfolios.
8.  The STORY and WORK sections allow you to position yourself for recruiters and hiring managers and provide keywords for Google’s search engine.  Work on these sections to make sure you are maximizing them.
Your ABOUT page can help you reach more people and help them find you.  It shows the world what you want them to know.  Start being aggressive in your job search, and in managing your online brand.
