Your Email Signature: Steps To Create One

Your Email Signature: Steps To Create One

Whether your are employed or not, your emails should have a signature.  If you are in a transition, it’s extremely important that you maximize your email signature.  If employed but looking, your personal email also needs a signature.  Your email signature is your part of your image and will represent you throughout your professional life.  It identifies you and what you do.  How do you create one?
It’s easy, just follow these steps:
1.  First, your name.  Simple enough.  Remember, it should match the name on your resume.  If you use a nick-name, show it.
2.  Title/Tagline.  If you are unemployed, you don’t have one.  If you are using your personal email, you might not want to list a title.  If you have a full or part-time consulting company, list it.  You can even put the logo and you can list your title — founder, president, CEO etc.  You can also use a tag-line — Senior Communications Executive, Integrated Marketing Professional, Corporate Writer, Publicist etc.  This will also work if you are employed and using your personal email.  You can add industries, disciplines etc. to your tag line.
3.  Email/Phone Numbers. Even though your email will be in the “From” section of your email, list it again.  List the phone number where you would like to be reached.  Make it very easy for anyone to contact you.
4.  Social Media Sites.  List your LinkedIn and Twitter hyperlinked icons and any other professional sites you wish to highlight.
5.  Website/Blogs/Links. This will highlight your work and show that you are tech-savvy.
